Aquaponics is an ingenious new technique which
combines the needs of fish and plants. In short, plants, fish, and
microbacteria are grown symbiotically in a soil-less environment.
The waste produced by the fish are decomposed by the naturally
occurring microbacteria, and are absorbed as nutrients by the
plants, thus purifying the water for reuse.
This ingenious closed-loop system means that the water never has to
be changed, and the plants will grow organically with access to an
abundant amount of natural nutrients and fertilizer.
